The Rajamangala National Stadium (the Royal Main Stadium) was constructed to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the longest reign of any monarch in Thai history.
Rajamangala National Stadium:
It has it all
Designed by the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, this large stadium has 60,000 seats. The Sports Authority of Thailand sent a letter to the Office of His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary seeking Royal permission to name this stadium. His Majesty the King granted it the name "Rajamangala National Stadium."

The stadium is located in the Sports Authority of Thailand complex and it was used for the opening and the closing ceremonies and football competition of the 13th Asian Games in 1998 and since then it has been used for staging many international events, including the annual King's Cup Football Tournament and many friendly football matches that featured leading English Premier League giants such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Leeds United and Barcelona.
There are many other sporting facilities provided adjacent to the stadium, including a velodrome for cycling competitions, warm up tracks for athletics and two athletes' dormitories which can billet 500 athletes.

The Rajamangala National Stadium is the stadium selected to be used for the 13th Asian Masters Athletics Championships in 2004.
