เจ้าชาย ฟาฮัด บิน จาลาวิ อัลซาอุด เลขาธิการคณะกรรมการโอลิมปิกแห่งราชอาณาจักรซาอุดีอาระเบียทรงให้เกียรติเป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดสำนักงานใหม่ของกองทุนพัฒนาการกีฬาแห่งชาติ โดยมี นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการท่องเที่ยวและกีฬา, ดร.ก้องศักด ยอดมณี ผู้ว่าการการกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย, ดร.สุปราณี คุปตาสา ผู้จัดการกองทุนพัฒนาการกีฬาแห่งชาติ, นายประชุม บุญเทียม รองผู้ว่าการฝ่ายกีฬาเป็นเลิศและวิทยาศาสตร์การกีฬา และ มร.สตีเฟน ฟ็อกซ์ รองประธานสปอร์ต แอคคอร์ด ร่วมพิธี ณ สำนักงานกองทุนพัฒนาการกีฬาแห่งชาติ ชั้น 3 อาคารเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 7 รอบพระชนมพรรษา กกท. เมื่อวันที่ 9 พฤษภาคม 2565 ที่ผ่านมา โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้ร่วมหารือถึงแนวทางการพัฒนาด้านกีฬาระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศ รวมถึงการเป็นหนึ่งในแนวร่วมเพื่อดำเนินการเผยแพร่กีฬามวยไทยไปสู่สากล
การเสด็จมาของเจ้าชาย ฟาฮัด บิน จาลาวิ อัลซาอุด ในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นการสานสัมพันธ์ระหว่างองค์กรกีฬาของซาอุดีอาระเบีย และประเทศไทย ให้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้น ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงมีแนวคิดผนึกกำลังร่วมกันผลักดันกีฬาอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของประเทศไทยอย่าง กีฬามวยไทย ออกไปเผยแพรให้เป็นที่รู้จักในระดับนานาชาติมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะซาอุดีอาระเบีย ที่มีความสนใจต่อกีฬามวยไทยเป็นอย่างมาก และพร้อมจะผลักดันกีฬามวยไทยเพื่อนำไปบรรจุในการแข่งขันมหกรรมกีฬาโอลิมปิกเกมส์ในภายภาคหน้า
ทั้งนี้ กองทุนพัฒนาการกีฬาแห่งชาติ จัดตั้งขึ้นตามพระราชบัญญัติการกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย พ.ศ. 2558 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเตรียมนักกีฬาไปแข่งขันในระดับชาติหรือนานาชาติ และมีพันธกิจสำคัญคือ การพัฒนานักกีฬา บุคลากรทางกีฬาและสมาคมกีฬา ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการทำกิจกรรมกีฬาในระดับชาติและนานาชาติ สนับสนุนเงินรางวัลแก่นักกีฬา ให้ทุนการศึกษานักกีฬาและบุคลากรทางกีฬา ตลอดจนช่วยเหลือด้านสวัสดิการแก่นักกีฬาและบุคลากรทางกีฬาที่ลงแข่งขันในนามนักกีฬาของประเทศไทย
Secretary General of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee presided over the opening ceremony for the National Sports Development Fund’s new office and gave support to push “Muay Thai” to compete in the Olympic Games.
HRH Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Secretary General of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, presided over the opening ceremony for the new office of the National Sports Development Fund with H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of Sports Authority of Thailand, Dr. Supranee Guptasa, Manager of the National Sports Development Fund, Mr. Prachum Boonthiam, Deputy Governor for Sports Excellence and Sports Science and Mr. Stephan Fox, Vice President of Sport Accord attending the ceremony at the National Sports Development Fund’s office, 3rd floor, 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej Building, Sports Authority of Thailand on May 9, 2022.
In the past, both parties had been discussing on the ways to develop sports between the two countries, including becoming an alliance to disseminate Muay Thai to the international level.
The arrival of HRH Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud marked a closer relationship between the sports organizations of Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
His Majesty has the idea of joining forces together to push Thailand’s unique sport, such as Muay Thai, and publicize it to an international level, especially in Saudi Arabia where people are fascinated in Muay Thai and His Majesty has shown his willingness to push Muay Thai to be included in the Olympic Games in the future.
The National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) was established under the Sports Act of Thailand B.E. 2558 with the objective in preparing athletes to compete at national or international levels. NSDF has an important mission in developing athletes, sports personnel and sports associations, as well as, promoting and supporting sports activities at national and international levels, providing prize money for athletes, providing scholarships and welfare to athletes and sports personnel who competed in the competitions on behalf of Thailand’s athletes.
